Miss Wong Yu Yan (Yanko) is an MPhil student in the Department of Sociology. Prior to her MPhil studies, she completed a Bachelor of Social Science (Sociology) with First‑Class Honours and Dean’s List awards from The Chinese University of Hong Kong. Her research lies at the intersection of gender and family, with recent work covers topics such as ageing care and migration using mixed methods. She is currently working on her co‑authored paper on intergenerational care relations and migration decision‑making in Hong Kong.
Alongside her academic work, Yanko is passionate about social advocacy and teaching. Since 2023 she has served on the advisory committee of the Hong Kong Secondary School Gender Studies Club, where she facilitates workshops and seminars on gender and sexuality to promote gender education at the secondary‑school level.
