Brief description of my research work
Despite structural and interactional constraints, transgender people in China are working across various industries and have developed creative strategies to achieve workplace incorporation. Drawing on fieldwork and in-depth interviews, my research investigates the mechanisms underlying transgender employability in China, examining how gender norms and neoliberal market logics are both strategically appropriated and complicit in producing new forms of inequality.
